Happy New Year!

Austell Music in the New Year

Winter Beach Party!

To cheer us up in the cold and gloomy weather we are going to celebrate music by having a winter beach party! All of the grade levels will be performing and singing different songs that remind us of the fun and sun of summer!

Activities will include building "sand castles", limbo, line dancing, volleyball and other fun activies that will help us reinforce the music vocabulary for each grade's music standards.

2nd graders are working on notation and identifying steps and leaps
3rd graders are identifying note names on the staff and musical form
4th graders are reviewing notation and exploring time signatures
5th graders are working with rhythms and music expression terms

Congratulations to Adlyn, Samantha, Nana, Sydney, Tatyana, and Kaitlin for performing with the Cobb District Honors Chorus Thursday, Oct 22. The students were great ambassadors for Austell Intermediate! We are so proud of you!

What's happening in class?

4th and 5th grade students are playing recorders in class. We are working on naming notes on the music staff so that we can make music independently! We are improvising on our new recorder notes BAG, working on our listening skills by identifying pitches played in class without the music!! We are also working on rhythm with drum sticks, playing a music staff game, and learning the dance to Thriller!

2nd and 3rd graders have been playing piano. 3rd graders learned to play the Addams Family song while second graders composed their own ABA pieces. Some of those pieces can be found on the school website under the podcast link. Both grade levels are learning the dance to Monster Mash!
